Vanguard Theatre Collective is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to theatrical arts and community outreach.

“Vanguard” suggests being at the forefront of artistic and social movements, which complements the ideaEmpowering Voices Through Theatre: A 12-Week Journey of theatre as a tool for societal advancement. “Collective” highlights the company’s community-driven, non-profit aspect, emphasizing collaboration and shared purpose.

Empowering Voices Through Theatre aims to allow incarcerated persons to reclaim their voice, body, and identity through creative expression. Through structured theatre work, participants will explore self-expression, develop communication skills, and work towards a performance of a monologue, staged reading, or a one-act play at the California State Prison, Los Angeles County, in Lancaster.

Our first session, which took place between April and August of this year, was a rousing success. The achievements and breakthroughs made with the men were heartwarming and fulfilling.
